Womens 3x3 Tournament- Venice Beach
We teamed up with HighlightHER and Zelle to highlight the some of the amazing female hoopers of Los Angeles.
Theres no better way to throw a tournament than to enjoy a perfect fall day in Venice beach. The sky may have been grey, but the energy was alive as the heart beat of the games was held down by DJ Hush, who shares her love for basketball and some wicked beats.
These women picked team names that inspired and empowered them like “Pain into Power” and “Glowing and Growing”. Teams came to play hard with high energy and intensity in this 3x3 double elimination tournament.
Jordan Ligons, who played ball in college, found her passion on the mic as she has announced games for FIBA 3x3 and joined us under the palm trees and kept the games rolling with her contagious smile. Her partner in crime, Rheina Ale, was also on the mic highlighting women and their stories in between games, like Elisha Taylor who is an inspiring new mom who played the Tasmanian devil in the new Space Jam Movie.
“It’s so important to share these women’s stories because they are so amazing, and talented. And we are so grateful for Hoopbus, HighlightHer and Zelle to create a platform for women’s sports today!” -Rheina Ale
It wouldn’t be LA without a little singing and dancing as Ginger Goldbaum “aka Gsnaps” keep the entertainment flowing as she performed and rapped throughout the games with her backup dancers and impressive lyrics flows. Not to mention her latest song just got picked up by the WNBA!
Wait, thats not all that went down. The final game of “Young Legends vs “Grind Time” was neck and neck, but Young Legends pulled up for the win. As the final bucket was scored Arielle Chambers the founder of HighlightHER got on the mic, congratulated the winning and team and surprised them with $5K from Zelle, deposited directly into their bank accounts! The winner team went home with funds, candles with empowering mantras and calming CBD refreshments from Fras.
Thanks to HighlightHER and Zelle for partnering with Hoopbus to bring smiles to the basketball community of LA.
