Hoopbus hosted a Grand Opening celebration at Merrick House in Cleveland

Ain’t no party like a Hoopbus party! We helped celebrate the grand opening of Merrick House’s newly renovated court by Microsoft, Mobil 1 and Project Backboard.
The Hoopbus parked out front with the doors open for kids and adults to walk through, take pictures, shoot hoops and engage with the gaming systems on the inside.
Some of the best dunkers- Jordan Southerland, Brandon Ruff and Anthony Height- made appearances giving the community of Cleveland jaw dropping dunks with their twists, turns and unmatched height in the air.
We hosted a competitive and entertaining game against the Merrick House community members. When our dunkers are combined with amazing ball handlers like Randy “White Chocolate” Gill, they always put on a show!
On Friday, they cut the ribbon on the newly renovated gym and tech loft! The upgraded included fresh paint, new backboards and rims, improved and boosted electrical and networking systems, and a new floor with a mural designed by Dakarai Akil and hand painted by Luis Hero and his team at Hero Flooring. All these enhancements were made possible by Microsoft, Mobil 1 and Project Backboard.
Special guest Channing Frye also joined in the celebration and helped cut the ribbon.

Founded in 1919, Merrick House is a vibrant Cleveland neighborhood center where everyone from the curious child to the committed adult is enriched through active, lifelong learning. Serving the Tremont neighborhood and surrounding area, their inclusive programs and services have expanded over the years to educate and empower individuals and families alike.
