As a Grant Writer, you will play a pivotal role in securing funding to support our mission of empowering communities through basketball and furthering educational initiatives. About Us

The Hoopbus uses a fleet as vehicles of change, a Hoopbus is a renovated school bus that functions as a mobile court with goals affixed to the front and back. We amplify community engagement partnering with nonprofits, schools and brands to increase attendance, awareness and bring energy to events. Our mission is to bring basketball where it’s needed most, inspiring kids, and advocating for an inclusive and equitable society for all. Hoopbus hosted programs and initiatives that impacted more than one million people in 2023, including assembly and SEL programs for schools, holiday toy drives and court refurbishments and renovations. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or a related field.

  • Proven experience in grant writing, preferably in the non-profit sector.

  • Strong understanding of fundraising principles and grant application processes.

  • Excellent research skills to identify potential funding sources and opportunities.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently, managing multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with grant management software.

  • Passion for our organization's mission and commitment to social impact.

Responsibilities:

  • Grant Research and Identification:

    • Conduct in-depth research to identify potential grant opportunities aligned with The Hoopbus's mission and programs.

    • Maintain an up-to-date database of potential funding sources, deadlines, and requirements.

  • Proposal Development:

    • Collaborate with program managers to gather information and develop compelling grant proposals.

    • Write clear, concise, and persuasive grant applications, ensuring alignment with funder guidelines.

  • Grant Application Submission:

    • Prepare and submit grant applications, ensuring all required documentation and supplementary materials are included.

    • Manage and meet deadlines for grant submissions.

  • Relationship Building:

    • Cultivate positive relationships with funders and grant-making organizations.

    • Effectively communicate The Hoopbus's impact and outcomes to potential and existing donors.

  • Grant Reporting:

    • Work closely with program managers to collect data and information for grant reporting.

    • Ensure timely and accurate submission of grant reports to funders.

  • Grant Compliance:

    • Stay informed about grant regulations and compliance requirements.

    • Collaborate with finance and program teams to ensure adherence to grant terms.

  • Continuous Learning:

    • Stay informed about trends and best practices in grant writing and fundraising.

    • Attend relevant workshops, conferences, and training sessions.
