Hoopbus Clinic with Pat The Roc - Maryland
March 7th 2022
As our Hoopbus Winter Tour kicked off we teamed up with Pat The Roc at his amazing facility, Pat The Roc Basketball Academy in Maryland. It was amazing to see how much love these kids have for the game - Wow!
Pat began his basketball journey at the age of 5 and fell in love with the game and was determined to develop his skills. He was scouted by the Harlem Globetrotters and became the youngest player to join the team at age 19. Thereafter, Pat was scouted by the renowned And1 mixtape tour in 2003, where he got his nickname ‘Pat The Roc”, and began traveling the world and showing off his incredible dribbling ability. He was featured on Other accomplishments include being featured on the ESPN television show 'Streetball", traveling to 25 countries, landing a character in Playstation's video game as well as getting the opportunity to work with a handful of NBA All Stars and celebrities. Pat's experience with basketball has led him to share his motto, "Anything is Possible", as these words fill the walls of his academy.
Pat was joined by Hoopbus team hoopers Randy ‘White Chocolate’ Gill and Jordan Southerland aka ‘1footgod’, who shared their knowledge and wisdom to Pat’s kids in Maryland.
The kids of Maryland had great attitudes and were eager to learn! During the clinic they were split up into groups and did stations from ball handling, moves to the basket, shooting drills, to listening to motivational speeches.
White Chocolate shared his motto, 'Believe to Achieve' - "If they believe in themselves they can create confidence to achieve anything!".
The clinic mixed in going out to check out the Hoopbus which was parked right in front and got some buckets. Additionally, they got an opportunity to tour the Hoopbus, see the NBA signatures on the walls and retrofitted basketball interior.
Jordan Southerland one of the best dunkers in the world also got to share his motivation to the kids:
“Remember no matter what you want to do in life, whether playing basketball or not, you have to be disciplined and work every day you get a chance to because nothing will be given to you.” - Jordan Southerland
After drills and speeches, Jordan showed off his amazing dunks leaping over 8 jaw dropping kids who were in amazement at his momentous height!
We are grateful to have teamed up with Pat the Roc and been given the opportunity to inspire more youth to get out and believe in themselves through the power of basketball. As Pat says “Anything is possible!”.
Till next time Maryland!
Peace, Love, Basketball
